Well I figured because everyone else was creating a new years resolution list I should make it a yearly thing titled YANYRL(yet another new years resolution list). Here is the first edition.
Actually before I start I would like to say that I don’t normally do these types of things because its something so many people do without really meaning to ever accomplish the things on the list and I didn’t want to be just another person creating some list I don’t plan to even bother to look at again after the new year starts. Here is my list and I fully intend to accomplish most if not all the things I put on this list (yeah yeah Marc thats what they all say).
#1) Replace my main source of liquid (pepsi) with water.
Yeah yeah a lot of people have things like this on their list and for good reason. I don’t plan to illuminate pepsi from my diet completely just trying to make water my main source of liquids. I’ve grown into some really unhealthy habits over the past few years and I plan to fix them 1 thing at a time.#2) Organize my communication sources.
This means trying to get a standardized way of being contractible. I almost have this all accomplished using mostly Google services just need to refine it and make everything more efficient.
#3) Organize my work flow and create “work hours” and “play hours”.
This kind of merges with the previous one but I consider it a much larger and slightly different task. Right now I Sleep whenever, I eat whenever, I work whenever and I play whenever. It makes for a very hard environment to be productive. Don’t get me wrong at first it was awesome and I did get a lot accomplished but that was because it was new. But its getting old quick and I am less and less productive everyday. I have obligations that don’t really allow for such a lifestyle anymore and a slightly aging body that complain to me when I don’t treat it well![]()
#4) Organize my finances and create a budget.
I think that this is going to be a major milestone in creating peace and harmony in my household and getting things on track. I’ve always been a person that has to have his code perfectly organized and efficient but my life has always been quite unorganized and this year it stops starting with budget![]()
#5) Complete at least two of my unfinished projects at least to a releasible version.
I have quite a few small projects I’ve started over the years that are in a stale state of unfinished. I think that finished a few of them it will do a lot for my motivation and who knows they may even get me paid some extra cash or some new contacts!#6) Get my company LLC’d finally!
I figure its about time I get SeilerCorp LLC officially started. This means registering the LLC and getting a tax person(ugh!).#7) Perfect my knowledge in OO style programing and learn complete abstraction.
muahahahahaha! True OO is something I havent really attempted much because I have my own style of coding but I thing truly researching OO in its neutral sense and learning techniques not specific to certain languages will help me understand it better and give me a even cleaner way of writing code w00t!#8) Stay on track with any methods I put into place for the goals above.
This is really a meta-goal to serve as a reference to keeping all the hard work put into the other goals worth it and mean something. if I can’t keep this goal all the others are just a waste of time.
I was really going for a list of 10 things but I fell short on it so this is good enough. I didn’t want to make some impossibly long list of things I wanted to accomplish anyways and I wanted to mostly list things that can have a status of “done” and “not done” and not fill it with a bunch of things that are on going and cant really be checked off per say. I do have the water one and the meta-goal for the others but thats really the only 2 on going goals. The others can be set as completed. Wether I keep doing whatever method I put into place for those other goals is another story and is covered under goal 8
